Christmas Decorations
Recently we have been learning about  'Make do and Mend' and 'Rationing' during World War 2 and with this in mind we designed and made Christmas decorations using scraps of felt, odd buttons and beads.

This project has a geography focus and teaches children about the causes and impact of natural disasters. We will be learning about Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis and Hurricanes.

We used our Science and Maths skills to solve problems linked to Natural Disasters.

Childline..
Llanfair held a sponsored event to raise money for NSPCC Childline and Year 3/4 won the award for the most money raised - Well Done!!

Spring is here..... what a lovely showing of daffodils in the field and car park.

Preparations have begun to transform Llanfair into a pollinating friendly area. Mrs Trigg along with Eco-club members created a bug home in the pond area and year 6 named the home 'Bugginham Palace'. A big thank you to Ethan for making a fabulous wooden sign.

Pollination Transfromation Day

Thank you to all the volunteers and parents that helped on the transformation day in March. Everyone worked really hard and we all achieved so much in a short space of time. Not forgetting Rob and his team from Green Future Landscapes who prepared the raised beds and surrounds.
Achievements so far...
  • We planted numerous flowering shrubs and perennials in the pond area
  • We cleared and repaired the pond and rockery
  • We fashioned a new layer on 'Bugginham Palace'
  • We sowed lots of meadow flowers along the Serpent Path leading up to the gazebo
  • We create a herb garden
  • We attached a willow screen to the metal fence to protect plants around the gazebo
  • We planted snowdrops and muscari among the daffodils

Summer Term 2017

Castles and Lego

This project has a history focus and teaches children about aspects of the middle ages of Welsh history between 1063 and 1283, a period that is generally known as Medieval Times. We will focus our studies on The Normans learning about The Battle of Hastings and The Feudal System.
Also Year 3/4 will have the exciting opportunity to explore a new learning resource called WeDo Lego made by Lego Education. We have 4 kits in school and over the next few weeks we will design, program and build moving Lego models so watch this space to see how we are getting on!!!
