The aim of this page is to provide information about how maths is taught throughout our school.  It also provides guidance on how children can be supported at home.
We have compiled three booklets that can be downloaded from this page. These booklets are designed to inform you about the progression in calculation methods, Big Maths guidelines and maths ideas to use at home.

What is Big Maths?

  • Pupils begin their Big Maths journey in Reception.
  • Big Maths is a 20 minute, daily mental agility session that focuses entirely on the ‘Number’ aspect of the National Curriculum.
  • Pupils are involved in daily CLIC sessions. C = Counting, L= Learn its, I = It’s nothing new and C = Calculations.
  • Through this scheme it is our aim to raise standards and increase pupil confidence.
