Newsletter - May 2016
Bag2School
Our last Bag2School collection on 11th May raised £100.
Our next collection will be on Weds 28th Sept.
Wine Tasting Event
Our wine tasting event on 18th March raised an amazing £829.52!
We’d especially like to thank Richard Ballantyne, who had the initial idea for the event, and who provided us with tasters and information on a variety of different wines. We’d also like to specially thank Michael Lewis, who also provided us with tasters of and information about his own wines, but who also allowed those of us there on the evening to buy his wine at a “special” price, with all proceeds going to the school. Also, thank you to everyone who came along and supported us. It was a really enjoyable evening and we hope to do another one again soon!
Easter Egg Colouring Competition
We had a record number of entries this year, which it made it very hard to judge! The winners were: (From Nursery – Yr6) Finley, Daniel, Orlaith, Charlotte F, Seren, Isabella, Annie & Emily. We raised a total of £42.50.
Tabletop Sale
Our Tabletop Sale at the Gathering place on Sat 7th May raised £291.22. Thank you to everybody who came along as sellers, buyers, or helped to organise the event. We’d particularly like to thank Jenny Skelton (Vale Cakes), whose amazing bus cake raised £126 on the raffle.
Duck Race
Thanks to everybody who bought or sold ducks for our duck race. We hope to see as many of you there as possible on Tues 24th May from 3.30pm onwards. Please remember that you are responsible for the supervision of your own children and remember to follow the safety advice that was issued by school. We hope everyone has a quacking good time!
Sports’ Day
The PTA will be running a refreshments stall at Sports’ Day again this year. We’d be grateful for any donations of cakes or biscuits for us to sell. We’ll send a reminder message nearer the time.
Summer Fayre
Our Summer Fayre is being held on Sat 25th June from 11am-1pm. We are having a meeting on Weds 25th May at 9am in the school canteen, to discuss the arrangements/organisation for the summer fayre. If you’re able to come along to the meeting, then it’d be great to see you there. If you can’t come, but are able to help in any way (however small) then please get in touch.

PTA Funds
Our current target is to raise funds so that we can purchase new furniture for the spare classroom (the old Yr2 room in the main building). This room is currently used for a wide range of different purposes e.g. music tuition, small group work, CLIC sessions, meetings etc. In future, we’d also like to be able to use it for events such as parent coffee mornings, but to do this we need to furnish it appropriately. This would also give us spare chairs etc. to use in the hall for events, without causing disruption to classes.

Future Events
Finally……
We really need your help! We know that not everybody has lots of spare time, but we’d be very grateful if you are able to help in any way. Why not come along to our next meeting to find out a bit more about the things we do? If childcare is the issue, then you are welcome to bring your children with you. There are toys, colouring etc. to keep the children occupied whilst we have our meeting. Coming to a meeting doesn’t commit you doing anything, but it would be a shame if the PTA couldn’t continue due to a lack of help. This would mean that our school wouldn’t have the summer and winter fayres, the duck race or any of the other social events Our AGM will be held on Mon 4th July at 6pm in the school hall. (If childcare is an issue, then please feel free to bring your children with you.)

Tabletop Sale
Do you have things you’d like to sell or are you looking to pick-up a bargain? Why not come along to our Tabletop Sale at the Gathering place on Sat 7th May from 10am to 12pm.
If you’d like to book a table as a seller, then the cost will be £5 per table. Please put your £5 payment in an envelope clearly marked with your name, contact phone number and “PTA Tabletop Sale” and return it to school by Fri 29th April at the latest. If demand exceeds availability, then tables will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis and any payments for tables which we are unable to accept due to oversubscription, will be returned. All successful applicants for a table will be issued with a ticket and further information.
If you’d like to bag yourself a bargain, then why not come and have a look at what’s on offer? We’ll be selling things such as children’s books, toys & games, “nearly new” baby clothing and accessories, and craft items. Admission will cost £1 per family. We’ll also have a selection of cakes and refreshments available to purchase.

PTA Funds
What has the money we’ve recently raised been spent on, we hear you ask? Well, the PTA agreed to purchase new laptops for use in school. Some of school’s old laptops were in a very poor state of repair and the purchase of 14 new ones has given a huge boost to the teaching of ICT in school.
We also paid for the entrance hall in the main building to be re-carpeted. The work was carried out for us by Oakley’s, who donated their time and labour for free. So, we’d like to say a huge thank you to them for doing this.

Llanfair PTA Newsletter - December 2015
Christmas Fayre
Thank you so much to everybody who helped to make our Christmas Fayre such a success. Whether you bought/sold raffle tickets, helped with the organisation/preparation in advance, donated items to sell, baked cakes, helped to set-up/tidy away, or ran a stall, we couldn’t have done it without you! We’d also like to thank the staff, who gave up their free time after school to help run stalls. Not only was it an enjoyable event, but we also raised an amazing total of £1523.66 in the process! So, thank you!!!!!!
However, we are aware that not everybody’s offers of help reached us. We apologise if you were one of those people who offered to help and we didn’t respond. The current system of paper reply slips means that unfortunately sometimes things go astray. We are looking into the possibility of setting up a separate PTA email system, which will hopefully resolve this problem for the future.
Silent Auction
Also, thank you to everybody who bid in the silent auction on the toys which were kindly donated by Hasbro. We are pleased to announce that this raised a further total of £136.50!!
(N.B. All winning bidders have now been contacted by school)
IQ Cards
The Christmas cards which were produced by IQ cards (using your children’s designs) raised £53.35 for school. This was particularly pleasing given that not many cards were submitted for production. We are interested to know why this was. Was it that we did this too soon before Christmas? Was it too complicated, or did we not give you enough time? Did you prefer Cauliflower Cards, that we used a couple of years ago? We’d like to know your views.
Bag2School
Our last Bag2School collection in 7th Oct raised £80.
Our next collection will be on 27th Jan.

4. REMEMBER to go via TheGivingMachine every time you shop online.
Our school will then get a percentage of what you spend. More details can be found on their website.
Our last payment from TheGivingMachine was back in Sept and raised a further £96 for school. We are due another payment from them soon.
PTA Funds
If you add up the amounts raised by the above events, you’ll get a figure of £1889.51 that we’ve managed to raise since Sept 2015. So, what are we planning on doing with this money, we hear you ask?

Future Events
We’ve also got lots of other ideas for events such as
and of course the usual Duck Race and Summer Fayre!
But we’d love to know what you think, or if you have any other ideas for events you’d like us to put on. Until we get our new email address up and running, please contact us via the PTA post-box on the wall near the steps to the hall, or speak to a member of the PTA directly.
Finally, we’d like to thank you once again for your continued support and wish you a very

Well, the PTA has agreed to purchase new laptops for use in school. Some of school’s current laptops are in a poor state of repair and the purchase of new ones will give a huge boost to the teaching of ICT in school.
We also want to look into purchasing new furniture for the spare classroom (the old Yr2 room in the main building). This room is currently used for a wide range of different purposes e.g. music tuition, small group work, meetings etc. In future, we’d also like to be able to use it for events such as parent coffee mornings, but to do this we need to furnish it appropriately. This would also give us spare chairs etc. to use in the hall for events, without causing disruption to classes. So this will be the focus of our future fundraising events.

Finally, we’d like to thank you once again for your continued support and wish you a very
