P.E.
Please can your child wear their PE kit (shorts/jogging trousers, house t-shirt and trainers) into school for their 'P.E.' session every Tuesday.
Reading
All reading folders will be sent home every other Friday to be returned to school on Friday the following week.  
Homework
Homework is uploaded to Hwb every Friday to be completed by Friday the following week. 
Spellings 
Spellings will focus on the 'Sound of the week' and High Frequency Words.  These will be uploaded to Hwb every Friday so that your child can practise these at home in preparation for an informal test on Fridays.

'Dens and Dandelions' -
​Summer Term 2021

This term's topic is 'Dens and Dandelions'. 
As part of this topic we will be learning about :- 


* Traditional tales – characters and settings.
* Different habitats – woodlands, ponds, seaside.
* Plants, flowers and minibeasts that live and grow in the local environment.
* Working as part of a team to design and make structures and build dens.

'Land Ahoy' - Spring Term 2021
This term's topic is 'Land Ahoy!  As part of this topic we will be learning :-
* About simple mechanisms. 
* About forces (push and pull, floating and sinking). 
* About the properties of different materials; 
* How to conduct a fair test; 
* About water transport through the ages; 
* About famous pirates and their pirate ships; 
* How to design and make a pirate ship to carry cargo; 
'Marvellous Me' - Autumn Term 2020
This term's topic is 'Marvellous Me'.  As part of this topic we will be :- 
  • Learning about the human body, senses, bones and x-rays. 
  • Learning about the human life cycle (growth). 
  • Discussing the roles of people who help to keep us healthy - Doctors, Nurses, Opticians, Dentists. 
  • Discussing family members (parents/grandparents) and learning about the chronology of their own lives. 
  • Finding out about the differences and similarities between life for a child now and in the past.

Hello Year 1 and 2,

I hope you are all well and staying safe. I am missing you all and I'm looking forward to hearing all about your news. I’m sure you will be having lots of fun spending time with your family in the sunshine.

I have put some activities for you to try on Hwb.  I will put new activities on Hwb every Monday.
  • Go to hwb.gov.wales
  • Log in to Hwb using your username and password.
  • Click on Just2Easy (J2E) app.
  • The activities will be in ‘shared files’.
  • You can print it out to work on and upload a photo or complete it in the J2e5 app.
  • When you have finished remember to save your work and I will be able to see it.
There are lots of reading books on Oxford Owl for you to read at home with questions to talk about and fun activities to complete.

  • Click on the ‘My Class Login’ on the top of the page.
  • Log in with your My Class Name and Password
  • Click on ‘My Bookshelf’ to read the eBooks at your level.

                               'Superheroes' - Spring Term 2020
This term's topic is 'Superheroes'.  As part of this topic we will be learning about a variety of Superheroes. 

The children will have the opportunity to:- 

* use ICT to find and present information;
* understand the features used by authors and cartoonists in comics and film to describe superheroes;
* identify healthy eating habits;
* read comic strips and dialogue;
* design a comic strip and use it to tell a story;
* use music movement and musical instruments to express the characteristics of fictional characters;
* identify acceptable behaviour and give reasons for choices;
* identify real life ‘superheroes’ and describe their lives.



                    'Electric Rainbow' - Autumn Term 2019 
This term’s topic is ‘Electric Rainbow’.  As part of this topic we will be learning about light, colour and electricity.

​The children will have the opportunity to:-
  • Create simple circuits
  • Learn about light sources 
  • Find out about the history of electricity 
  • Discuss the importance of light in other cultures
  • Carry out investigations
  • Write poetry
  • Create artwork 
  • Design and make a product using an electrical circuit
 
If you have any books, stories or items that you feel would help resource our project, we would be very grateful if you could send them into school with your child.
